Landslide dynamics
The prediction of landslides and the discovering of the triggering mechanism, is one of the challenging problems in Earth science. Landslides can be determined by different factors but in most cases the triggering events is an intense or persistent rain that percolates into the soil, causing an increasing of the pore water pressure. Working in this context, we aim at developing models that bear predictive power and help grasping the fundamental aspects of the landslide physics within a self-consistent descriptive scenario. Numerical and analytical (fractional calculus) methods are combined to gain insight into the scrutinized problem.
